ABOUT OUR WORK
Our Cal-Pac General/Jurisdictional Conference Delegation is currently participating in the postponed 2020 General Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. We prepared for our work by:
- Reading and reviewing many reports and proposals that will come to the General Conference, to understand more about proposals and their implications
- Building relationships and coalitions with other delegates to advocate for changes that we see as critical for the church, including three key priorities: creating a more equitable regionalized church structure for our worldwide denomination, approving revised Social Principles that speak faithfully to our current reality, and removing harmful anti-LGBTQ+ policies.
Since we were elected, we have also been a part of additional work, during this unusual season in our denomination.
- Leading our Annual Conference’s envisioning of a new, inclusive form of Methodism in the wake of the Special Session of General Conference in 2019. This included drafting concrete proposals for our organizational future, including disaffiliation.
- Participating in the Western Jurisdictional Conference (November 2-5, 2022) in Salt Lake City, Utah. We elected 3 new Bishops.
