Kid City believes that every student deserves to have access to education. Yet the path to college has many financial and institutional barriers. Kid City is hosting this panel of visionary and emerging leaders to discuss the path to education equity in California. Panelists include Stewart Kwoh, Board Chair of the Los Angeles United Methodist Urban Foundation and President Emeritus and Founder of Asian Americans Advancing Justice; Antonia Hernandez, President and CEO of the California Community Foundation; Dr. Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Executive Director of Education Trust West; and Jose Lopez, LAUSD teacher candidate and founder of Community Teachers of Los Angeles.
On the eve of an election, the panel will reflect on education equity, affirmative action, proposition 16, and begin to reimagine next steps on the path to equity following the election. Host and moderator are students and alumni of Kid City, and the event will also feature the Kid City band!
Ultreya: Reimagning the path to education equity is on Zoom at 3 PM, Thursday October 29th. All are welcome; the event is free.
