Let Our Children Learn: A UMW Virtual Bible Study on Interrupting the School-to-Prison Pipeline

A four-part Bible study on the sacred place of children and youth in God’s eyes, antiracism and interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline will be held by United Methodist Women (UMW) from May 20 to June 10, 2021. No prior knowledge is required, and all are welcome.

Thursdays, May 20, May 27, June 3, June 10, 2021
3 PM – 4:30 PM PDT / 12 PM – 1:30 PM HST
(Fridays, May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, 8 AM – 9:30 AM ChST)

This study includes four 90-minute sessions:

  • Embracing New Life (Colossians 3:1-17; Romans 12:1-2)
  • Embracing the Gifts and Leadership of Children (Acts 16:16 19, Matthew 19:13–15, Luke 2:39-52, Jeremiah 31:15-17 and Matthew 2:16-18)
  • Reimagining the Role of Women in Society (Numbers 27:1–8, Matthew 15:21–28 and Luke 18:1–8)
  • Unfamiliar Identities: Embodying New Possibilities for Interaction with All Women (Luke 15 + Ephesians 6:10-17)

Registering for and attending the full series is encouraged as each session will build on the previous session. Sessions will be live/interactive and will not be recorded.

About the Lead Facilitator: Neomi Fletcher, a member of the Texas Annual Conference, currently serves as a board member for Bishop’s Retreat and as the grant manager on the Strategic Management Team for the Nett Church in Atlanta, GA. She is also the UMC Young Adult Delegate for the Churches United in Christ.

There is no cost to participate, but pre-registration is required and capacity is limited. Registrations are approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
