On Wednesday, May 29th, Chino UMC was honored with a $2,500 donation from Stater Bros Charities to support their community outreach programs. The local Stater Bros staff recommended Chino UMC for this honor, highlighting the church’s impactful work in the community.
The donation was presented during the grand reopening ceremony of Stater Bros in Chino. Church members and Stater Bros staff attended the event, where a large ceremonial check was handed over, marking a moment of celebration and gratitude.
One of the key outreach initiatives of Chino UMC is the creation of hygiene kits for the Chino Police Department’s program aiding the unhoused. This effort involves collecting toiletries from church members and the broader community. Hygiene kits are also given to Inland Valley Hope Partners in Ontario, the local school district, and to anyone who stops by the church needing one.
Rev. Amy Yoon of Chino UMC attended the ceremony and was honored to have Stater Bros Charities recognize the church’s contributions to the community. This recognition and the generous donation will further empower Chino UMC to continue its vital work in supporting those in need. The collaboration between Chino UMC and Stater Bros Charities exemplifies the power of collaborative efforts in making a tangible difference in the lives of many.
Chino UMC collects items for the hygiene kits on an ongoing basis. There is a box in the narthex (lobby) of the sanctuary where items can be dropped off. Please consider travel sizes for most of these items. All items must be unopened, unused, and new. Below is a list of what they need most:

- Socks!! These should be adult sized and new; for men, women, or unisex.
