Establishing the Employment Relationship (SPRC 201): a training part of the Cal-Pac Learning Lab series

led by Jan Hanson, Cal-Pac HR Director

This workshop will provide an overview of some of the most common employment-related issues, as well as offer tools to help churches decide whether the person doing the work is an employee, contractor, or volunteer.

There will also be a discussion of items and issues relating to the payment of wages, including the question of classification as either exempt or non-exempt. Included will be updates on the latest regulations affecting employment in California.

All are invited to attend this presentation. This seminar is particularly relevant for SPRC chairpersons, SPRC members, clergy appointed to local churches, and church employees that manage employees.

• Technical requirements: To participate in Zoom meetings, participants must have a reliable Internet connection, and a laptop, tablet, or smartphone device that can download and install the Zoom app. A web or phone camera and a microphone are highly recommended, although some users may call in via phone if a mic is not available.
