The 2025 Britt Lectures took place on February 16-17, 2025, featuring the Rev. Dr. Grace Ji-Sun Kim. This annual lectureship, endowed by the late Dr. Clarence & Caroline Britt, provides continuing education opportunities for clergy and laity in the Hawaii District. Held each year over President’s Day Weekend in Honolulu, the event brings leading theological voices to engage the community in meaningful conversation.

Rev. Dr. Grace Ji-Sun Kim, an acclaimed theologian and author, led attendees through three thought-provoking lectures, followed by Q&A, culminating in a three-hour workshop at the end of the weekend:

Dr. Kim is a Professor of Theology at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana, and has written or edited 24 books, including When God Became White and Healing Our Broken Humanity: Practices for Revitalizing the Church and Renewing the World. Recognized as one of “8 Christian Women Shaping the Church in 2023” by Sojourners, she brings a multicultural perspective to theology, reimagining faith in a way that is just, loving, and inclusive.

The Hawaii district extends a heartfelt mahalo to all who attended and contributed to this year’s event. Special thanks to the dedicated staff and members of First UMC of Honolulu for hosting, to the Bethany UMC community for providing delicious ono bentos, and to all who participated in worship services. Your support made this gathering a meaningful experience for all.
