Submission by Rev. Kristie Grimaud

On September 20, thirty women from across the South District came together in Julian for a Women’s Day of Prayer and Meditation led by Rev. Kristie Grimaud and Pastor Dawn Christiansen.

Women representing Ramona UMC, Community UMC of Julian, Mission Hills, La Mesa First, Normal Heights, and Spirt of Joy Lutheran Church of Ramona joined for a day set apart to pause, connect, and renew their spirits in nature and in community.

The retreat included time for personal reflection with two hours of free time to explore the outdoor labyrinth and engage with eight interactive prayer stations designed to deepen prayer and meditation. A lunch prepared by the Julian Tea Shop provided nourishment and fellowship, and the day concluded with a closing sound healing session that left participants centered and refreshed.

This marks the third year that Rev. Grimaud and Pastor Christiansen have led the women’s retreat together. The first two gatherings were held at Ramona UMC, but this was the first year the retreat took place in Julian and the first time so many women from across the South District participated.

The retreat embodied the mission to end spiritual hunger by creating a sacred space for women to pause, reflect, and renew their spirit in God’s presence and in the fellowship of one another.
