Operations Manager (Camp Cedar Glen)

Camp Cedar Glen is seeking a trades person with managerial talents.

To assist the Camp Director in all aspect of camping ministry.
– Lead in maintenance and property management
– Support administrative functions
– Support guest experiences
– Assist with staff recruitment and management
– Spanish / English bilingual is highly preferred.

General Job Description:
Working effectively with the Site Director, balances efforts among responsibilities including
hospitality, administration, maintenance, food service, facilities management, public relations,
and health and safety, in order to effectively serve the programs of the California-Pacific
Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and those of other groups hosted at the
site. Working effectively with the Site Director, carries out the policies, procedures and goals
identified by the Site Committee; Board of Camping, Outdoor and Retreat Ministries; and the
Annual Conference.

Education
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and some College.

Experience
Minimum 3 years managerial, supervisory, maintenance, and/or camp or retreat center experience or
training. Willingness to pursue job related continuing education, training and certification
opportunities. Experience and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software. Must have valid
driver license

Essential Functions:
• Assumes the essential duties and responsibilities of the Site Director in his/her absence.
• With the Site Director, serves as host to the user groups
• With the Site Director, administers the site’s Risk Management Plan.
• With the Site Director, manages the maintenance of real property on the site.
• Operates and maintains the water distribution system at the site.
• Maintains swimming pool equipment and chemistry,
• Serves as program staff as needed including: lifeguard, archery, high/low ropes,
climbing wall.

Expected Qualifications:

Must possess valid driver license in good standing
Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain:
Community CPR Certification
American Red Cross Standard First Aid (or equivalent) Certification
“Introduction to Wastewater Treatment” or equivalent (where applicable)
Additional Pluses:
Certified Pool Operator Certification (where applicable)
Small Water Distribution System Certification (where applicable)
Certificate of Completion of Water Quality Control Institute course:
Mechanical Maintenance Knowledge
HVAC Maintenance Knowledge
Handy work such as flooring, plumbing, irrigation, framing

May directly supervise two or more support staff employees and individual or groups of volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Conference policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing and evaluating work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
