Stay Alert and Avoid Scam Emails

Phishing scams targeting clergy, church staff and members continue to circulate throughout our conference. These messages may look like they come from Bishop Escobedo-Frank, Conference staff or another trusted leader and often ask for urgent help, gift cards, money, personal information or access to a “church directory.”
Before you click, reply or send anything, take a pause. Suspicious messages can wait.

Official Conference business will come from an email address ending in @calpacumc.org. If something feels unusual, verify it directly by phone or in person before responding.

Phishing scams change constantly and do not necessarily mean an email or phone account has been breached. Slow down. Be skeptical. Verify before you act.
