Cal-Pac Voices Support for Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center

On Wednesday, August 7th, over 60 supporters from Cal-Pac (laity and clergy) gathered at the City Council to stand in support of the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center. At stake was the center’s application for an extension to their planning permission of a 50-unit senior and low-income housing facility and an additional neighborhood center to provide services to the residents and local community.

Supporters were asked to wear blue to show solidarity with the center, and gathered early outside of the meeting location to ensure their presence and voices would be heard.

The council listened to all of our speeches in support, asked great questions, and Rev. John Griffin-Atil presented his hopes and dreams eloquently and passionately. In a surprising outcome the vote passed unanimously and with much praise and support, particularly from the Mayor Paloma Aguirre.
