The United Methodist Global AIDS Committee (UMGAC) is sponsoring Breaking Barriers, a daylong event for those concerned about the issues of HIV and AIDS and for who hope for an AIDS-free world, in May 2020.
Since the beginning of the HIV & AIDS crisis, stigma has kept people from being tested or acknowledging their status if they were infected. This reality has fueled the epidemic resulting in alarming numbers of infections and deaths.
All are welcome to attend this forum for story-telling and healing through listening and action, with a special emphasis on stigma eradication.
Breaking Barriers AIDS Conference: Tackling Stigma will be presented on Monday, May 4, 2020, from 8 AM to 4 PM at Hennepin Avenue UMC, 511 Groveland Avenue, Minneapolis, MN.
Confirmed presenters include:
- Ambassador Deborah Birx, US Global AIDS Coordinator, as keynote speaker
- Bishop Julius Trimble from Indiana Annual Conference, UMGAC Chair, as host & panelist
- Bishop Karen Oliveto from Mountain Sky Area as closing worship preacher
