To All Churches in the California-Pacific Conference,
Greetings in the spirit of connection and commitment to our shared mission.
We’re deeply grateful for your faithful contributions and recognize the commitment that each church makes to support our collective mission through apportionments. The cutoff date for submitting the final payment for the 2024 Apportionments/Special Sundays and quotas funds is Thursday, January 9, 2025.
For the past few years, our apportionment system was adapted to meet churches where they were during challenging times as we all navigated changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the unique financial strain of quickly shifting situations, the Council on Finance and Administration (CFA) adjusted the apportionment scale to count 75% giving as 100% for several years, and then moved it to 85% last year. Now, as we continue forward, we have returned to the original 100% giving standard for 2024.
Apportionment giving enables us to come together to achieve what no single church, district, or conference could alone. Apportionments fund the United Methodist mission and ministry on local, district, conference, and global levels. They make possible our ministries in Justice and Compassion, Leadership and Congregational Vitality, and New Ministries. They support the Boards of Ordained Ministry, Pensions, and Health Benefits, and they help provide grants, trainings, and resources that multiply the impact of local churches across the California-Pacific Annual Conference. Apportionments are a testament to our connectional system and a reflection of our shared values.
As we wrap up 2024, we encourage your continued support of these vital ministries. Each church’s participation enables us to serve more effectively and fulfill our call to minister locally and globally. Your district superintendent is available to provide additional guidance or clarification for those who may need it.
Thank you for your dedication and for the ministry we share as the body of Christ.
