Pentecost Greetings:
It is with sadness that I share the important news that our Executive Director of Connectional Ministries, Rev. Myron Wingfield, has begun a Medical Leave effective Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Myron has experienced some ongoing health challenges and he and his physician have come to see this as the right decision to make for his health and well-being.
As Myron shared with Conference staff, “there is no new development or emergency, but it has become clear that, due to my ongoing health concerns, I am not capable of performing the duties and fulfilling the responsibilities of this office. You have all been tremendously supportive and kind, and I will always be grateful. I am especially grateful to the Connectional Ministries staff, as they have carried on in their work without fail. I am also grateful to the Bishop for the opportunity to serve in this role. It has been a gift to me to do this work.”
We are discerning some short-term options in the interim, but I will give my direct attention to the Connectional Ministries staff and office as we search for a permanent replacement for Myron.
I want to thank and commend Myron for the excellent leadership and wisdom that he brought to his office. We are a better annual conference and church because of Myron!
Let us be supportive of Myron and his family in this time of healing and renewal. Let us keep them, as well as our staff, in our care and prayers.
Be the Hope,
Bishop Grant J. Hagiya
Los Angeles Area Resident Bishop
