It is a joy to share the news that I intend to appoint Rev. Dr. Siosaia Tu’itahi as the new East District Superintendent this July.
Rev. Saia (for short), brings a deep spirituality and compassionate ministry to the East District. He is the current California-Pacific Conference Chairperson for the Pacific Islander’s Commission, and the first Pacific Island District Superintendent for our annual conference. He is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, and completed a BA in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in 1989.
Saia began a career in the San Diego County Probation Department that lasted until 2000, when he responded to an increasing sense of call into to the ministry. He attended the Claremont School of Theology where he received both his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degrees.
While yet a student, Saia was appointed to Tolutasi Pacific Islanders UMC in July 2003 until June 2008, when he was appointed to Santa Ana UMC where he is currently serving. He has served in numerous committees in the Annual Conference and on the General Church level.
He is married to Monalisa Salakielu Tu’itahi (our first elected lay delegate to General Conference) and they are parents to four wonderful children, three in college and one in High School.
Be the Hope,
Bishop Grant J. Hagiya
Los Angeles Area Resident Bishop
