We are pleased to announce that the Justice and Compassion Essential Ministries Team (JCEMT) has received a grant of $100,000.00 from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). The purpose of this grant is to aid immigrants residing in our communities who are food and wellness insecure, putting them at risk for safety and wellbeing. This grant is designated for United Methodist Churches and ministry programs within the bounds of the California-Pacific Conference (Cal-Pac), and is a finite, non-renewable resource.
The funds are primarily to be used for the purchase of food, but a portion may also go to wellness supplies such as hygiene items and school supplies, as well as equipment, training, facility costs and personnel for established applicable ministry programs. See the application for a more detailed description of eligible items within the scope of this grant. The maximum funding request is $10,000.00 per ministry unit.
This funding program is just the first step in a focused intentional ministry to address the increasing food insecurity in our communities. Your response and participation in this ministry will aide us in building an awareness of the ministry sites and resources already at work in Cal-Pac. On this foundation we will build a broad and comprehensive intentional feeding ministry to forward our goal to “End Spiritual and Physical Hunger”.
