Claremont Sunday (2/22/15)

newsSunday, February 22, 2015 will mark the first Claremont Sunday throughout the California-Pacific Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Claremont Sunday provides an opportunity for congregations to celebrate Claremont School of Theology (CST) as Cal-Pac’s seminary.  It is also an opportunity for congregations to reflect on their critical role in lifting up candidates for future United Methodist clergy.

Congregations will mark Claremont Sunday with special prayers, offerings and printed bulletin materials that will help to support CST and educate the people of Cal-Pac about CST’s mission for the Church and for the world.  CST faculty, students and staff will also be present for worship in a number of congregations to preach and testify to CST’s mission and ministry.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity to celebrate the relationship between our seminary and the churches of Cal-Pac,” said CST President Jeffrey Kuan. “We benefit from the nurturing and development that happens in our churches that results in generation upon generation of students who come to CST with a desire to go out to serve their church and their world. The truth is that it is impossible for theological education to happen without a close relationship between the church and the seminary. That is what we hope will be celebrated and strengthened through Claremont Sunday.”

Worship resources and materials will be made available in early January to congregations for the observance of Claremont Sunday.

Questions about Claremont Sunday can be directed to James Kang, Director of Communications of Cal-Pac and The Rev. Nat Katz , Director of Communications at CST.
