Spanish American Institute (SAI) has opened the application process for the SAI/UMC Latino Youth Scholarships beginning mid-February until April 10, 2021.

Scholarship applicants must: 1) have been a member of a local California-Pacific United Methodist Church for at least one year, and 2) provide a letter of recommendation from the Pastor or Youth Director indicating faithful service in a leadership role to the church and/or community. SAI awards $1,000 scholarships to selected applicants.

SAI has also partnered with the TELACU Education Foundation (TEF). With matching funds, SAI and TEF awards $2,000 scholarships to selected applicants in memory of Rev. Cesar Lizárraga, an alumnus of the SAI Methodist School for Boys in Gardena, CA, from 1932-1934.

To apply:

• Before beginning the application process, have your two letters of recommendation (one must be from the local Pastor or Youth Leader) and a 500 word essay complete and stored electronically.
• Then read the instructions for the application process first, fill out the application, attach the three required documents and then click on the “Apply Online” button. Applicants will receive an email that your application was sent to SAI.
