Disaster recovery volunteers are being called upon for recovery work in Oklahoma and South Carolina after severe flooding. The recovery effort is expected to take up to three years for South Carolina.
The recovery work usually consists of a week-long trip to rebuild homes. Local coordinators assign work based on the skill sets of each volunteer. Lodging is usually in church facilities, but each team must prepare their own meals.
The California-Pacific United Methodist Volunteers in Mission would provide training for volunteers being organized to go.
