Youth Group raises funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Pearblossom Community United Methodist Church’s new youth group began a service project in August of 2018 for the Literally Healing program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. By January 2019, five youth raised $1,500 for books read to the children in the hospital.

On February 2, the youth and the leaders then toured the facility and gave Barnes and Noble gifts cards to the reading program.

Some members of Pearblossom Community UMC have a long history of donating to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. So when the youth wanted to do a service project, they chose this hospital and learned about the “Literally Healing” program there.  As far as how others can support the efforts of our youth group, raise money for “Literally Healing” for CHLA and try to top our amount like the Ice Bucket challenge.
Our youth group started in 2018 as part of the whole church’s campaign to attract young people and their families. We began with a bunch of activities like movies, roller skating, water park, beach trips, etc… and now we are having youth meetings twice a month and currently talking about confirmation class. Pray for our young people as they face challenges to their faith, their view of self, their families in these extremely formative years.

The team members were Pearblossom Community UMC’s youth group, their adult leaders, and Pastor Glenn Hoskins.
