From our California-Pacific Conference to our General Board of Church and Society, The United Methodist Church is actively engaged in the prevention, as well as the aftermath, of gun violence.
The communities affected by the Thousand Oaks shooting is now also affected by wildfires. As we continue to keep them in our prayers, we can also take specific action on gun violence including the following:
- Pray for all affected by the shooting
- Join the National Gun Violence Prevention weekend, December 15-17, 2018 and/or host a special service or vigil at your church (December Sabbath or Newtown Foundation)
- Join a group via organizations such as:
- The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
- March for Our Lives
- Everytown for Gun Safety
- Get more information and resources:
- Read Cal-Pac’s Resolutions on Gun Violence 2017
- Use the General Board of Church and Society’s resources on Gun Violence Prevention
