Ainise Isama’u, a lay member at United With Hope UMC in Long Beach, California, is the nominated President of United Methodist Women (UMW) for the 2020-2024 year.
Recently announced, the UMW Board of Directors’ Executive Officers, including the President, are nominated as a slate to be approved by vote in October 2020. Isama’u will lead the 25-member board of United Methodist Women, the largest U.S. denominational women’s mission organization, which supports programs to empower women and improve life for women, children and youth in the United States and internationally since 1869.
With a passion for being in ministry with women, children, and youth, Ainise is currently in her last year at Claremont School of Theology working on a Master of Divinity and has been in several leadership capacities in the United Methodist Connection. She currently serves as the Tongan Representative on the Advisory Board for the Pacific Islander Ministry Plan and as a Mission Round-table Facilitator for the General Board of Global Ministries.
Also joining the Board this year as a Western Jurisdiction Alternate member is Mele Faiva Manu-Blagojevich, a former Cal-Pac UMW President.
