On March 30, 2014 the Outreach and Social Concerns Committee along with Youth Ministries sponsored the Skeeto Faire. The purpose was to raise awareness of the United Methodist Church’s Imagine No Malaria initiative and to raise funds for the California Pacific Conference’s effort to save 300,000+ lives by the end of 2015.
Every 60 seconds malaria claims a life in Africa. Millions of lives are needlessly lost each year. Malaria is preventable and treatable.
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort by the people of the United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action, to end death from malaria in Africa, especially the death of children and mothers.
Imagine No Malaria continues to provide insecticide-treated nets but goes further by adding the components of infrastructure improvement, training community health workers, providing access to diagnosis and treatmen, and communication about prevention measures. Prevention, Education, Communication and Treatment are the four components of the Imagine No Malaria Campaign which is offering hope to a continent that is being bled dry by this deadly disease.
Donations will continue to be accepted through the month of April.
Please designate your gift to Imagine No Malaria.
