With super typhoon Yutu causing extensive damage to the island of Saipan (part of the Hawaii District of the California-Pacific Conference) in 2018, experienced and trained Emergency Response Team (ERT) volunteers are needed for a minimum two week commitment.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be paying for travel, basic accommodations, and some food.
Volunteers must be skilled in construction work and willing to work long days in hot and humid conditions.
Resident Bishop Grant J. Hagiya has invited volunteers to come from across the Connection.
Expected responsibilities of volunteers: Residential stabilization and repair following typhoon damage. Variety of construction-related activities.
Expected qualifications of volunteers: Current ERT badge or willing to be trained prior to deployment. Some experience in construction.
