We come with hearts broken, yet again, by another senseless act of violence perpetrated against the LGBTQIA+ community, this time at Club Q in Colorado Springs on the eve of the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Because we believe that God’s heart is broken when any of God’s beloved children are harmed, as Christians, we are called to respond. We are doing so by offering a sanctuary space for care and grief for any and all LGBTQIA+ persons on Thanksgiving Day. This is a space of community and an offering of spiritual care. It is open to people of any or no religious tradition and is not intended to be in any way evangelistic.
The Zoom room on Thanksgiving Day will be open from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM MST (7:00 AM-7:00 PM PST | 5:00 AM-5:00 PM HST), staffed by counselors, clergy, and peers at this link: https://tinyurl.com/jznayyht
Clergy, lay ministers, and chaplains are invited to sign up for a 30-minute to 2-hour window to be present on this Zoom call and provide a safe space for holiday gatherings, check-ins, processing grief, etc. For safety purposes, we would like to have two care persons/hosts at a time.
Care persons can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0b4ea8a923a5f58-safe
God, may you guide us, heal us, and help us.
